Pyong Vang Garlic

Pyong Vang Garlic

This garlic is Asiatic type.

This is a very nice garlic to compare with Korean Red, another Asiatic garlic with very different properties. This variety has smaller cloves with a more solid color. I haven’t tasted this yet, but I can say together with Korean Red it looks spicy. This does okay in my garden, but I am certainly growing more productive varieties.

Rosewood Garlic

Rosewood Garlic

This garlic is a Porcelain type.

This has a nice clove color, a bit of a wood tone. It has a slightly sweet flavor that is very nice, but also similar to other porcelain garlics. This is the second year growing this and I am pretty happy with it so far.

Susan Marie Garlic

Susan Marie Garlic

This garlic is Porcelain type.
This is one of those all around nice but not very special garlics. This is my second year growing it, and it does well. It normally produces 4-6 clove bulbs, has a nice taste and pretty cloves. It is very similar and a good substitute for Susan Delafield and several other porcelain garlics. This is a rare garlic and hard to find.

Vekak Czech Garlic

Vekak Czech Garlic

This is a Glazed Purple Stripe type.

Last year this was a much more colorful garlic. Sometimes I come across cloves with colors so intense, they remind me of the stained glass in the cathedral in Prague. Purple/Red are the main colors, but sometimes hues of yellow and other colors emerge. The taste of this garlic is very good.

Last year was the first year growing this garlic, and for a while I didn’t think it was going to make it. The plants were weak, and the few resulting bulbs almost weren’t enough for replanting. This year it’s really taken off, and I think it’s long term prognosis is very good. Assuming it keeps going in my garden, I think this will turn into a very high quality garlic.
