Heritage Sweet White Multiplier

This is a type of multiplier onion that’s doing really well in my garden right now.  It comes from Martin Longseth in Wisconsin, via Søren.

It’s a strong growing plant, and really seems to be multiplying quickly!  As well as producing topsets, most of the plants seem to be dividing 4-5 ways at the roots.  I can’t wait to try it next spring as a spring onion.

I haven’t tasted the roots yet, because I’m still trying to multiply it.  I would say the one thing that’s a little lacking is the greens aren’t very nice to eat and normally I like onion greens.

I don’t usually manage to get a picture of a bee in my garden, because they don’t stay still long enough.  Here’s a bee working one of the topsets.
