Purple Glazer Garlic

Purple Glazer Garlic

This garlic is Glazed Purple Stripe type.

This one’s not doing very well yet in my garden as you can see in the picture. The bulb opened up a bit in the ground, and the skin mostly came off. The dirt you see on it was because it was difficult to clean without much skin on it. This is a very classic and well known garlic among garlic growers, and is easy to come by in many areas. It’s worth considering growing.

  1. Hello,

Your post caught my attention. We want to grow the Glazed Purple Stripe type. Which kind of garlic is this or do you have a sientific name?
Does it also grow in the Mediterranean area.

  2. Hello Monir Raiss,

This is common garlic, Allium sativum. It is the Glazed Purple Stripe type. Yes, I think it will grow well in the Mediterranean area.

Are you near Amsterdam? My computer tells me you are in Lisse. If you like you can have some of this from my garden next year, around August or so.
