This an Artichoke type garlic.
This is also also a garlic that does well in my garden. Even though I get a lot of large bulbs, I also get many small ones. This may just be a matter of growing it for a few more years and selecting for the larger bulbs. The taste is nice, but not outstanding.
“an Artichoke type garlic”…
What means this?
Sorry, I meant to say something about this. Current thinking is that there are 10 different garlic types or sub-types.
They are:
Artichoke
Purple Stripe
-Purple Stripe Marbled
-Purple Stripe Glazed
Asiatic
-Asiatic Turban
Rocambole
Porcelain
Silverskin
Creole
You can find a pretty good explanation in the ‘Varieties’ section of this document:

When I have a moment I’ll do a post on this…
